This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a day of helping to create a peaceful and happy world (today and every day).

Comment from Marie:
Because our thoughts are chaotic, our world is chaotic. Our world reflects what is in the collective consciousness (which includes everyone). To change the collective consciousness and the world, we start with changing ourselves -- clearing out the anger, judgment, blame, vitriol, etc. etc. from our mind and heart. This reminds me of the song often sung at Unity Churches: "Let there be Peace on Earth, and let it begin with me." This is a great mantra or affirmation to use any time we are feeling angry or unpeaceful. Let Peace begin with me.

InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

November 8-9-10, 2024

The focus for today (and the weekend) is:

By meditating daily, I help change society
and create a happy world.

Today's inspiration was written by Patricia Anne Saunders:

To change society, we must change ourselves because what we are produces the type of society we live in, the type of media that is prevalent, the political system, and even the type of medicine that is favored.

The reason for this is that we pour our thoughts, feelings, and sentiments into a collective mix, a local or national collective consciousness that generates the way we live and the way that scientific discoveries, artistic expressions, and general ideas are interpreted and accepted.

As early as 1962, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi  stated: “The day one-tenth of the adult population of the world begins to meditate a half-hour morning and evening and begins to emit an influence of peace and harmony from the deepest level of consciousness—from that day, the atmosphere of the world, this negative atmosphere of the world, will be neutralized,...Elsewhere, Maharishi is reported as saying that “while 10% would be ideal, even if only 1% of the world’s population meditated it would be sufficient to do away with the hatred that causes war.”

RELATED BOOK: Creating a Happy World

Creating a Happy World: Cultivating Happiness through the Transcendental Meditation® Program
by Patricia Anne Saunders.

Since stress, worry, and sadness appear to be on the rise, Creating a Happy World examines two paths to combat these and create a happy world - the path of the individual, which can be transformed through achieving higher states of consciousness with the Transcendental Meditation program; and the path of society, which can be transformed through the impact of Transcendental Meditation on collective consciousness.

By the time readers have finished reading this book, I hope they will feel more happiness in their own lives, a greater belief that life has a purpose, and increased optimism for the future of humanity.
