GEMINI FULL MOON: A Full Moon lights up the night sky next Sunday, December 15, perfecting at 1:01 a.m. PST. At the peak of the lunation, the Moon will be at 23°52' of airy, mental Gemini, opposite the Sun at the same degree of fiery, inspirational Sagittarius.

This lunation calls for us to find a balance between reason and intuition. It requires that we honor both the mind's need for information and the spirit's calling to seek a higher perspective. It also challenges us to be openminded and flexible in our opinions and beliefs.

This is a very expressive Full Moon, likely to accelerate communications and mental activity. Nervous energy is heightened, as are the emotions. The climax of a lunar cycle is always a time for illumination, and this Full Moon, in particular, can bring revelations if we remain open to the possibilities beyond our current mindset.

Further complicating our Full Moon experience, the Sagittarius Sun is tightly quincunx wild-card Uranus and also trine assertive Eris. These aspects inspire impulsive, independent action that may lead to unexpected outcomes.

MUTABLE T-SQUARE: The Sun and Moon are square Neptune (at 27°08' Pisces) at the time of next Sunday's lunation, forming a mutable T-square. To visualize this configuration, imagine a giant letter "T" in the sky, with the Sun and Moon at the two ends of the crossbar, and Neptune at the base of the stem, at the all-important "apex" position.

This T-square configuration indicates we'll be dealing with a fair amount of mental stress next weekend. The mind is restless and overstimulated, making it hard to think clearly or make rational decisions. Communications could be confused and we might be absentminded, especially since Mercury is at a standstill on Sunday as it completes its retrograde period.

With mystical Neptune at the apex of this T-square, there is a sense of disorientation and disassociation from physical reality. The stress we experience could be mostly due to being unable to fully wrap our minds around current reality. There is also a tendency to be somewhat gullible with this Neptunian T-square, and we could be overly influenced by the opinions of others.

To successfully navigate a mutable T-square, we are advised to activate the positive potentials of the one mutable sign that is not represented. Think of the T-square as being a four-legged table that has only three legs; to help keep the table upright, we want to provide the energies of the missing leg — in this case, the qualities of discerning Virgo.

Thus, we will benefit from carefully analyzing anything we are told in the days surrounding the Full Moon. We will want to ascertain whether the source is reliable, and to make sure there is no misinformation or faulty data behind the perspective we are given.

It may not be that we are being intentionally misled, we may just be caught in the loop of someone else's misinterpretations or incomplete information. Our task with this T-square is to carefully screen out that which throws us off balance and is not in alignment with our higher-self perspective.

ASPECTS THIS WEEK: Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important planetary aspects, day by day:

Monday
Mercury sesquiquadrate Eris: There is an edge and an intensity to communications today. People may be especially blunt, outspoken, and judgmental.

Tuesday
Sun trine Chiron: This aspect supports a greater sensitivity to our own needs and an improved ability to be understanding and tolerant of others.

Wednesday
Sun semisquare Venus: There is a need for space in relationships today; any enclosure or restriction can feel especially uncomfortable.

Thursday
Venus opposite Mars: This aspect, between Venus in independent Aquarius and Mars in heart-centered Leo, represents a conflict between the need for freedom and a desire for belonging.
Sun sesquiquadrate Mars: People may be easily irritated today, especially if they are feeling disrespected or ignored.
Mercury sextile Venus: There is an opportunity late in the day to have a rational conversation, but with Mercury still retrograde, it is unlikely that all loose ends will be tied up nicely.

Friday
No major aspects are exact today.

Saturday
No major aspects are exact today.

Sunday
Full Moon: The Full Moon peaks at 1:01 a.m. PST this morning, when Luna is at 23°52' Gemini.
Sun quincunx Uranus and trine Eris: An inner restlessness leads to surprising or impulsive actions.
Mercury stations direct: Mercury completes its three-week retrograde phase when it comes to a standstill at 12:56 p.m. PST today. Most times, Mercury going direct gives us a green light to go ahead with our plans and ideas; however, with Mars now retrograde (until February 23), we are still cautioned to take our time with implementing entirely new endeavors and may have best results through breathing new creative energy into previously successful projects, at least for the short-term.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK (Dec. 9-15):

There is a strong desire for new experiences this year. You will likely feel very restless with old ways and traditions. Throughout the year, you will be healing any ways in which you have perceived yourself as victim. You will be building self-confidence and learning to respect your unique perspective. You have recently completed a period of significant spiritual growth, during which you learned the value of surrender and acceptance, forgiveness and compassion. It will be helpful this year to continue to have faith in that which you do not yet see, and to trust that you are being held and guided. (Solar Return Sun opposite Jupiter, quincunx Uranus, square Neptune, trine Chiron, trine Eris)

CLASSES AND WEBINARS by Pam Younghans:

SAVE THE DATE! My first webinar of 2025 is just four weeks from now, on Wednesday, January 8! For this 90-minute class, I will present an overview of the astrological energies for the entire year of 2025 and then focus on the first quarter's most important planetary aspects.

This past week, as I began to create my graphic of the planetary aspects for the coming year, the sheer number of major events — as well as the long-term, evolutionary impact of many aspects — made it abundantly clear that there would be too much information to try to cover four months in each webinar.

Therefore, I'll be giving four webinars in 2025, each covering three months at a time. There will be a special discount if you wish to purchase a ticket for the entire year, but you can also simply register for one class at a time.

My working title for January's webinar is "A Dark Night's Journey into Day: From Conflict and Chaos to Clarity and Healing." As you can tell from this title, although the year starts out fairly rocky, there is also much to look forward to.

I'll include a full description of the class in next week's Journal, along with a link to register. I hope you can join us!
