This is Marie T. Russell, co-publisher of InnerSelf.com, wishing you a day of choosing your thoughts carefully (today and every day).

Comment from Marie:
I'm meeting a lot of new people now that I've moved across the country (and halfway across the ocean). And I'm finding it so interesting to see how everyone can see the same situation in a completely different way as they introduce me to different things in my new environment. One person commented that the post office was always crowded and that you had to wait in long lines. Another person said you only had to time it right to sail right through. Another complained of the incessant wind where I live, while I (and many of my new neighbors) find the wind refreshing and invigorating.

We all see things through our own eyes, based on our previous experiences. As they say, one person's junk is another's treasure. That is easily seen in thrift stores, and even (as I recall) in Florida streets on garbage day. Our perceptions, our beliefs, our projections, all make a difference in the world we experience. So it is completely up to us to change "where we are coming from" which will then change where we end up (emotionally, mentally, and physically). As today's inspiration reminds us, our thoughts frame how we see the world.

InnerSelf's Daily Inspiration

September 17, 2024

The focus for today is:

My thoughts frame how I see the world.

Today's inspiration was written by Gary C. Cooper

Jordan Brown, blogging for the Mental Health Institute, wrote: “Feeling stuck starts with your thoughts. If you think you’re stuck, you’re stuck. It’s as simple—and as complicated—as that.

"It’s so easy to use your thoughts to create a convenient narrative about why you’re worthless and can’t go anywhere.

"Thoughts create your situation. They frame how you see the world. They are, in fact, the foundation of your current paradigm.”

The Success Paradox: How to Surrender & Win in Business and in Life
by Gary C. Cooper with Will T. Wilkinson.

The Success Paradox is the improbable story of a life and business transformed, told in a warmly authentic style that says: “I hit rock bottom, I surrendered, I began doing the opposite of what I’d been doing before, miracles happened, and here’s what you can learn from my journey.”

With riveting personal details that illuminate his discoveries, Gary details how he defied the odds – not just to survive but to thrive - by implementing a series of paradoxical strategies, fundamentally opposite to anything he’d ever done before. The result is an inspiring book about what happened to him and a blueprint for readers to experience how to surrender and win in business and life.

About the Author

GARY C. COOPER was 28 when his father died suddenly, making him CEO of a South Carolina health care business with 500 employees, $25M in revenue, and ten partners much older than him. Two months after his father’s funeral the bank called all their loans, demanding $30M in 30 days. So began Gary’s roller coaster ride into workaholism, alcoholism, near bankruptcy, and family strife, culminating in a doctor’s grim diagnosis: “You have less than a month to live.”

But Gary turned everything around. Today he is sober, healthy, happy, his family is reunited, and his company, Palmetto Infusion Inc., is valued at $400M. How he did it reveals three astounding secrets that turn best business practices upside down.
